From the rear Graeme started up from the couch with a strangled cry. It was too much. He was a fool. The others had been right - the thing was impossible, unthinkable. But the silent figures in the conrol rooms continued to watch the meters and no one turned back to stare at Earth. At last, man was on his way to the stars.
