FAQ's

We are always happy to answer your questions at any time, but some questions are quite common and might be answered below, so have a browse! If you can't find what you're looking for, please feel free to reach out to us on enquiries@laureltreebooks.co.uk.

1. How long does shipping take after I place my order in the UK?

  • If you are within mainland UK:
    • Royal Mail Tracked 24: 1-2 business days
    • Royal Mail Tracked 48: 2-3 business days
  • Northern Ireland or the Islands:
    • Royal Mail Tracked 48: 3-4 business days

2. Do you ship internationally?

  • We currently only ship internationally to the United States at a flat rate of £20 per order, no matter how many books. Shipping can take between 7-9 business days.

3. Where can I find notes about a book's condition?

  • As well as providing multiple photos from different angles for each book, we also write detailed condition descriptions for every book. These descriptions can be found at the bottom of the listing text, below the summary of the book. Publishing information is also provided for every book.

4. How do I know if a book is collectable?

  • Information about a book's rarity or collectability can be found in publishing information description on each product page. If in doubt, or you would like to ask specific questions about any book, please feel free to reach out to us on enquiries@laureltreebooks.co.uk. We are always happy to have book chats!

5. Do you take donations / buy books?

  • Yes! We will happily take donations or buy books from you. Ideally, you would be located in the Edinburgh or Fife area and we can collect from you directly. Alternatively, if you are further afield, we can discuss shipping options (which we would pay for, for the right books).
    • Please note: for donated and/or books offered for sale we will require photos to ensure quality. We do not accept cookbooks, children's books, Reader's Digest, National Geographic, anything in poor condition, from a smoking household, or severely water-damaged.
  • As a rule we are always looking for books that are a bit out-of-the-ordinary, vintage sci-fi, unique editions, and the weird and wonderful.

6. Can I return my book(s) if I'm unhappy with my order?

  • We accept returns if your order arrives to you after being damaged during transit. You have 30 days to lodge a return request, and we will require photos. You can lodge your request by emailing us on enquiries@laureltreebooks.co.uk. We cannot accept returns for changing your mind. We can arrange either a refund or store credit, whichever you prefer.

7. Do you have a physical shop?

  • At this stage we do not! We operate online-only a majority of the time, and attend markets or hold pop-up shops occassionally. Eventually we will have a physical space, so keep an eye on our website News and social media for that beautiful day to arrive!

8. Do you offer bookbinding services?

  • Not officially yet! Our founder Halena currently makes handbound notebooks and journals to sell in the shop, and she is still learning all there is to know about book repair and conservation. Eventually we will offer specilised bookbinding services, and we will be sure to let everyone know when that day comes.
    • Halena can offer bespoke notebook/journal commisions however, so if you have an idea of what you would like to be handbound, please get in touch at enquiries@laureltreebooks.co.uk and we will have a conversation with you.

Is your question still unanswered? Give us an email at enquiries@laureltreebooks.co.uk and we will do our best to help you out.
