An intact original copy of Part 1 from the rare 1904 fortnightly serialisation of The Living Plant in Leaf, Flower, and Fruit by Alfred Ernest Knight and Edward Step.
Published by Hutchinson & Co. prior to the complete 1905 hardback release, this 18-part subscription series was designed for readers to collect bi-weekly and later custom-bind. Because subscribers were expected to discard the softcovers when binding the completed set into volumes, surviving individual parts with their original paper wraps and period advertisements are exceedingly scarce.
Includes original period advertisements and original botanical illustrations/colour plate.
